For a total solar eclipse to take place, the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, blocking the face of the Sun. The people in the state of Alabama are located close to the totality path, hence, they will be able to experience 2024 Solar Eclipse where the Moon covers 80 to 90 percent of the Sun. The sky will become dark for a few minutes, as if it were early evening. This map shows the contours of the obscuration of the Sun.
