Full Solar Corona Model
A request was sent to the Community Coordinated Modeling Center - GSFC to generate field lines for a 3D printing model of the solar coronal for the Carrington Rotation 2196. The WSA (Wang-Sheeley-Arge ) model generated field lines around the active regions to simulate the coronal images that might be made and open field lines to the source surface at 2.5 solar radii. From CCMS, a tar-file was received with the field lines data. Using the computer language Mathematica, I generated a STL model as shown in the figure. The resulting printable 3D model shows the overall structure over the full sphere. The magnetic expansion of the field lines as the magnetic field strength changes along the field lines is not shown.
