Wasp-39b Tidally Locked Exoplanet
Wasp-39b Tidally Locked Exoplanet

Two exoplanet models were created. Since imagery is not available, we use artists' conceptions. The first instance is a representation of hot Jupiters. It is thought that these objects probably have banded atmospheric circulation like Jupiter, so the sphere is textured with multiple differing textures to give the impression of circulation bands. A gallery of artistry is presented along with the 3D prints. The second type of exoplanet is one that is tidally locked. There are several examples of these planets, some are even warped by tidal forces. The representation in the 3D print uses multiple textured bands. The "front" of the exoplanet has clearly demarked atmospheric bands which circulate. The front side is thought to face the parent star at all times as the planet orbits. The "back" side of the planet is smoothed, and the bands less pronounced to depict the circulation but the change in nature of the atmosphere on the back side. The example of Wasp-39b is included.
